Samsung Beats Apple to Launch a Giant Tablet

When you’re a tech giant, it’s pretty difficult to get a brand new product to market without someone, somewhere letting a cat or two out of the bag!

So for a while now, we’ve been expecting large tablets from both Samsung and Apple to hit the market early this year.

Talk that Samsung’s large tablet, the Galaxy NotePRO would be released at CES 2014 started back in December 2103 just after it was demo-ed in Korea. Turns out they were right!

Galaxy NotePRO tablet released

Just days ago, at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 was launched along with a range of other Samsung goodies that suggest they’re coming into 2014 punching while Apple is, umm, very quiet so far.

Most analysts have been forecasting larger tablets that would compete more with laptops and take on more of a role as a productivity device. In the case of the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, that guess seems to be right on the money.

Take a look around the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2.

Galaxy NotePRO vs Laptop

As we mentioned earlier, it’s pretty obvious that Samsung sees the Galaxy NotePRO moving in on laptop territory and they’ve certainly geared it up for that.

With a built-in virtual keyboard, the ability to access your PC on the go with the Remote PC app, ease of working across multiple programs and easily switch between work, personal and social, this super tablet will more than replace a laptop for loads of people.

And just as you add a keyboard and mouse to your laptop when you’re not on the move, a mouse and wireless keyboard will be available extras.

Whilst there’s been no mention of pricing, the NotePRO is clearly a premium product and will probably carry a matching price tag. As far as timeframes for release go, there’s nothing official but most experts are tipping some time in Q1.

We can probably expect Apple to come back with an answer to the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 in the not-too-distant future so stay tuned.
