Bio Case FAQs

  1. What are Sprout Bio Cases made from?

Sprout’s bioplastics are made using biomass, which is typically plant-based, such as corn or rice husks.

  2. Under what conditions are Sprout Bio Cases compostable?

Sprout’s Bio Cases meet international compostability standards, which means you’ll see 90% decomposition within 12 weeks through commercial composting and 12 months within home composting at ambient temperatures.

  3. Will my case break down before I want it to?

Sprout Bio Cases will only break down when they are in the right composting environment, and will not break down through everyday use.

  4. How does your partnership with One Tree Planted work?

For every Bio Case sold, Sprout will plant one tree through our partnership with One Tree Planted. One Tree Planted is a charity who make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their reforestation projects span the globe and are conducted in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create positive impacts for nature, people, and wildlife.

Each month, we inventory how many Bio Cases have been sold, and One Tree Planted to plant the same amount of trees on our behalf. We post a montly update of how many trees have been planted here.

  5. Where are these trees planted?

These trees are planted across Australia to recover forests affected by the 2019-20 Black Summer Bushfires and restore native habitat vital for wildlife.

  6. What packaging do Sprout Bio Cases come in?

Bio Case packaging is made from 100% recyclable cardboard and glues, with no plastic parts or lamination.

  7. Will Bio Cases change colour?

As they are made from natural materials, lighter colour Bio Cases may discolour slightly over time. However, they can be cleaned with soap and water
