|Eww! Our Mobile Phones Are Dirtier Than a Toilet Seat||27/06/2013|
|What are you really hiding in your pocket? A super handy gadget or an object dirtier than a public toilet?|
Mobile phones are fantastic. They are the handiest thing you have in your pocket, your hand, your bag and well, everywhere. Even though these handy gadgets are super practical they are also one of the dirtiest things we come into contact with on a daily basis.
What the Scientists Found
Scientists have taken the time to swab, wipe, test and culture a bunch of phones from a range of people. The results are pretty disgusting. On average a handset carries 18 times more harmful germs than a toilet flush button in a men’s public bathroom. If that isn’t enough to make you keep your phone at arm’s length then maybe finding out the worst phones offenders have bacteria from both the lower intestines of humans and animals. So animal lovers and hand-wash slackers listen up! If you choose to diss’ phone hygiene you choose to adopt faecal coliforms, e.coli, staphylococcus aureus and salmonella. Gross!
On the whole though most phones only carry a small amount of enterobacteria which in small doses is not that harmful. However, if you continue to use your phones on the toilet, pass it to a friend to check out a pic, scroll through Facebook at lunch and then sleep with it under your pillow without ever cleaning it you are much more likely to suffer a stomach bug than a runny nose.
How to Keep Your Device Clean
Scientists are warning us slackers to literally clean up our mess. It’s not that difficult with Sprout’s range of cleaning accessories. You can buy a handy antibacterial wipe to clean that bad boy up quickly and on the go. If you are a super dirty user you can grab a solution and scrub-a-dub-dub to your hearts (and stomach’s) content.
The laptop, tablet and PC are also not immune to the poor personal hygiene of some users. Sprout has you covered there too with their multi-purpose screen wipes, cleaner and cloth for tablets and laptop cleaning kit.
If you are going to make every use of your super handy gadget give it a clean first or at least once in a while. You may think you are immune but it is highly unlikely when the average computer keyboard has more bacteria than a toilet seat. So get cleaning!
