Apple never lets anything slip before officially unveiling their latest and greatest, so here is our wrap up of all the bet rumours of the Apple iPhone 6.
Apple iPhone 6 Rumour Wrap Up

It’s here again - that time when all talk turns to what Apple will have in store with the newest iPhone. Steve Jobs’ successor, Tim Cook, has been busy in the kitchen and by all accounts he's improved the iPhone recipe with a few new ingredients to whet our appetite. Will the iPhone 6 enter our list of the best smartphones of 2014? It’s certainly looking so.

So what can we expect to see in the iPhone 6?

Size matters

Most of the rumours have been focused on screen size that is expected to increase significantly. It’s thought that in addition to a 4.7 inch screen, another model with a 5.5 inch screen will follow. This will see the iPhone 6 in line with competing Android and Windows phones that have adopted larger displays and that have proven popular with users. Along with the larger screens, the resolution of the display will increase with predictions of 1334x750 (326 ppi) for the 4.7 inch model and 1920x1080 (401 ppi) for the 5.5 inch model.

Gem of a screen

As well as screen size increasing, we’ve read that the iPhone 6 screen will be made with durable sapphire crystal, providing a hard, scratch-resistant finish. Apple currently uses sapphire crystal for small parts such as the camera lens and home button of the iPhone 5S but with its recent partnering with sapphire crystal producer, GT Advanced, this puts it in a strong position to apply sapphire crystal in a bigger way.

Thin and slim but curvy in all the right places

We’ve seen a few concept images, mock-ups and iPhone 6 phone cases appearing around the place. The designs consistently suggest that the iPhone 6 might have a thinner frame and slimmer bezel, with a curved glass display.

Focus on the camera

It’s rumoured that the iPhone 6 will have a new camera sensor that will increase the resolution from 8MP to 13MP. This is backed up by Apple’s hire of a competitor’s engineer who was key in developing a 41-megapixel smart phone camera. There’s also talk of other improvements including optical image stabilisation (OIS), which uses motion-tracking in order to compensate for device shakiness, allowing for sharper photos. With users disposing of traditional cameras, it’s no surprise that more focus is being placed on the iPhone 6 camera.

Release dates

It's no surprise that an official launch date hasn't been announced as yet. However, if Apple's M.O. is consistent with previous years, we’re likely to see the iPhone 6 hit the shelves in mid-September 2014, starting with the 4.7 inch model. This is likely to be followed by the 5.5 inch model which is rumoured for release in 2015.
